2013학년도 전기 학위 수여식이 있던 지난 2월 21일(금) 외국인유학생중 학부생 5명과 대학원생 7명 총 12명이 이번 전기 학위 수여대상자에 포함되었다. 이에 국제교류본부에서는 유학생들의 학위수여 격려 및 서울과학기술대학교 졸업 동문으로서의 소속감 고취를 목적으로 13시 어학원 회의실(110호)에서 “2013학년 외국인유학생 졸업생 격려 간담회”를 개최하였다.

간담회 시작전 대학원생 졸업생중 일부는 대학원연구소 개별 일정관계로 앞서 졸업생 격려 간담회에 참석하여 그간의 유학생활 소감 및 애로사항, 향후 진로 등에 대하여 환담을 나누었고 국제교류본부에서 준비한 졸업기념품을 전달하며 아쉬움을 달랬다. 이후 예정대로 “2013학년 외국인유학생 졸업생 격려 간담회”는 13시 어학원 회의실에서 졸업대상자외에 졸업을 축하하러 온 재학생, 각국 유학생회 대표(중국,사우디, 몽골), 국제유학생회(ISC) 대표 및 국제교류본부장외 직원 다수 총 33명의 참석으로 진행되었다. 졸업생 격려 간담회를 열게 된 개요 설명후 참석자소개가 있었다. 이어 조남욱 국제교류본부장님께서 유학생들의 향후 진로 및 동문으로서의 역할을 기대하는 졸업 축하말씀과 더불어 졸업생에게 졸업기념품을 전달하였다.

  공고사항 안내로 졸업생 동문회 구성을 알리고 국제교류본부 홈페이지상( http://global.seoultech.ac.kr/)의 '외국인유학생 동문 등록하기‘에 꼭 가입할 것을 당부하였다. 또한 졸업후 14일이내 변동신고 등 졸업에 따른 출입국관련 일정(변동신고 및 비자변경)을 알리고 체류에 문제가 발생하지 않도록 미리 준비할 것을 알렸다. 이외에도 보험안내 및 외국인학생 오리엔테이션 계획을 전달하였다.

이번 학위수여자들은 국내외 취업 6명과 취업준비중인 6명을 비롯하여 학업을 계속 이어가는 진학(및 준비중) 2명 등 다양한 분야로 진로가 결정되었다.

국제교류본부에서는 4월말까지 졸업생 동문 네트워크 구축위한 ‘외국인학생 동문 등록하기’ 를 유도하는 단체 이메일을 전송할 계획으로 외국인유학생들의 많은 참여가 있기를 기대한다. 그리하여 5월까지 졸업생 동문 네트워크 구축을 완료하고 이후 전체 외국인학생 대상 정기소식지(e-newsletter) 발송으로 계속적인 유대관계를 유지하고 졸업생 및 재학생 그리고 학교와의 유기적인 네트워크 유지 및 교류를 통한 발전을 기대해 본다. 
 

The commencement exercise held on February 21st featured a total of 12 international students, 5 baccalaureate and 7 from graduate school. The Office of International Affairs sponsored a discussion held on the same day at 1 PM, Rm. 110 Language Center with the purpose of encouraging international students to form the first batch of the alumni association.

Prior to the meeting, all participants were asked for their individual complaints and feedback relating to their experience in their student life for future references. The discussion went forward as planned with the participating graduates, current students, representatives from different national student groups(China, Saudi, and Mongolia), and the International Student Club(ISC), making a forum with the total of 33 members. A brief introduction of each students were done after a presenting the summary and outline of the association. A congratulatory remark was made by the dean of Office of International Affairs, Prof Nam-wook Cho that was highlighted by the words of good luck for their career and expectation for extended future participation.

A notice was posted about the membership for the alumni association at the OIA homepage ( http://global.seoultech.ac.kr ) requesting for all graduates to join through " 외국인유학생 동문 등록하기“. In addition, students who had graduated should apply to change their status of sojourn within 14 days after graduation. Furthermore, information about health insurance and the international students' orientation was also discussed. Half the graduates were able to secure a job and are currently working inside South Korea. On the other hand, the other half are in the midst of preparation for a career or attending continuing studies.

In order to build networks between graduated international students, the Office of International Affairs is expecting memberships from all the graduates through an e-mail inducing the feature " 외국인유학생 동문 등록하기“ which will be sent tentatively until late April. After establishing a network between the alumni, the association would be advertised to all international students, prospects and current, using e-newsletter as advertisement to maintain and develop the network and exchanges between each members.
