SeoulTech’s Mechanical System Design Engineering major Professor Heo Nam Soo received the Yoodam Academic Award from the National Mechanics Academic Committee at their Spring Academic Event for Materials and Demolition hosted at the Jeju Seogwipo KAL Hotel on April 10-12.
The National Mechanics Academic Committee hosted its spring academic event to offer a place to share recent research results and further encourage the sharing of information.
The event featured oral and poster sessions on various topics, speaker seminars, and special sessions and discussions on recent cultural and national issues on various topics. In addition, the event expanded its expert seminars after receiving positive feedback from last year’s session and more time was given to allow members to have deeper discussions.

The Yoodam Academic Award is presented to those who have given considerable and noteworthy contributions in the area of materials and demolition and Professor Heo was granted the award for his contributions to energy plant integrity reviews and structural design methods.
The materials and demolition area is important culturally and is a traditional mechanics-related field that has a great impact nationally and economically. New fields such as nano, micro, and biomaterials and new technologies continue to grow.
